1. India takes the premier position in this global outsourcing surge, cornering approximately 80-90% of the global offshore market. It has to its credit a large pool of talented and English speaking professionals, robust infrastructure as well as the advantage of providing outsourced services with specific cost advantages. With cost competitiveness, a highly skilled labor pool and a high level of service maturity, India is still the topper in the outsourcing market.
2. China is emerging as the next big IT outsourcing destination and is in tight competition with India to be the leader. It has liberalized the economy, laws and policies and laid a major emphasis on education. China is fast becoming a low cost alternative to its economically developed neighbors like, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
3. Middle East, especially Dubai, is blessed with innovative technology, reliable infrastructure and the mixed population that come from various other countries who are well-educated and willing to work hard, makes Dubai one among the spicy destinations of outsourcing.
4. Philippines: A potential offshore outsourcing destination, Philippines has to its credit a vast population that speaks English with American accents due to the exposure to Western culture and global business.
5. Malaysia has well-developed world-class infrastructure and its outsourcing industry has good government support. A number of policies are being put in place to widen the labor pool and improve proficiency in English and technical skills.
6. Eastern and Central Europe: Other eastern and central European nations such as Hungary, Czech Republic and Romania are also seen as good offshore outsourcing destinations for the near future. They have the advantage of offering services to its European counterparts with near shore facilities at a much lower cost. These nations have to their credit a large pool of tech savvy workers with cultural compatibility to Western Europe.
7. Ireland looks promising as far as IT outsourcing is concerned owing to its potentially stable government, better and supportive laws and regulations, good IT and networking infrastructure and English speaking well educated youth which makes Ireland a good competitor in the offshore outsourcing market. The only problem being it has a costlier workforce compared to other countries.
8. Canada with its geographic proximity to the U.S. having almost similar time zones, its skilled labor force with well educated, computer literate and English speaking workforce is stiubbornly making its presence felt in the offshore outsourcing arena.
9. Russia’s future looks promising with a low cost and well educated workforce, but the major problem being lack of English knowledge, instability and underdeveloped IT and networking infrastructure that act as its major rivals.
10. South Africa is slowly emerging as an outsourcing destination that is taking advantage of increased competition worldwide. South Africa is advantageous to the UK market as it lies in the same time zone and has a similar culture. It has to its advantage good infrastructure; call center operation capabilities and mastery over the English language
